Ranger starter causes fire?

:icon_rofl: I was working undr my truck--had my hands between the radiator & the steel fan(now electric)....I heard a CLICK...then I heard the lectric fuel pump come on.....yanked my hands out past the fan blades/tie-rods exceptionally fast....-v-v-v-v-v-v-vv-vroooooooom(good thang it's an A/T!!!)-

seems that I leaned on the remote-start key-fob that was in my pants pocket....now I put my keys on the dash when workin on the truck

:icon_surprised: congrats on saving your fingers. This story is probably a big reason for the electric fan huh?:icon_rofl: Ya I have had some bad experiences from stuffing the HUGE metal F150 clutch fan in the engine bay of my 2.9. 'leans over to listen for exhaust leak and curses to himself multiple times while holding his hand':icon_idea: time for electric......
Oh and forget ever getting a remote start, Im too dumb to have that. (though would be funny to push button in my pocket and freak out as it rolls away to scare people. heeheehee)

the only way I can imagine that could have happened is if it had a carb and was hot enough to diesel. EFI - key off, no fuel delivery and no spark. My dad's old Silverado would keep on chugging when your turned it off, but usually putting it into gear would be enough to kill it.
