ranger refit/build thread

the first 45 pages have enough pictures to keep me content for now, i want to see the GT-12 finished :( that way there is a video of it driving down the road, before winter hits

I agree. I want to see both projects done. I miss the gt12.

he probably went off to another project... to leave me (and others) hanging on this, and the GT-12 :(
sorry,man...been stupid busy...my plans for 'me time' never seem to work out the way i want.

by the way, congrats on the totm:icon_cheers:
:bawling:

I want to see more of this awesome rig.:damnit1:

Robert
hopefully i can be getting some bits back together on it soon.i can't believe it's august already tomorrow,i have a bunch of work that needs to get done on stretch before the kids go back to school, and as it's my dailly driver it takes precedence.

sorry man, that ain't gonna happen.i'm not even looking at it till after september.
I miss the gt12.

me too.

in the mean time, this is what ate up most of the last month...

celica004.jpg

i had a repaint to do on a 75 Celica.this required pretty much tearing down the whole car as it was a color change, plus the previous bodywork was pretty crude.
celica001.jpg

torn down, primed, and blocked-the shell is ready for paint.
celica006-1.jpg

turned out the driver's door had some serious issues,so...
celica001-1.jpg

i chopped it out,
celica013.jpg

formed up a new panel,
celica016.jpg

and buzzed it in.a skim of filler cleans up the weld.

celica025.jpg

the pictures don't do it justice, but the color is a nice aqua blue with a high pearl content.

a little something i just bought,who knows where it'll end up;
blower001.jpg

needs new bearings and a bit of cleanup, but overall it seems in reasonable condition.paid $70 for it.

Celica...I always loved the older ones. Nice paint job by the way.

Sweet Celica! A good friend of mine has a '76 that's getting a 2.3T... It's almost done. :headbang:

this one took way longer than i first expected, but i figured it was worth the time.other than a few minor rust spots that i repaired properly(not like the bondoed-over mess i removed)it's really solid...certainly worth the effort, and the owner is happy with it too.

still,it would be nice to have a bit of that time back for my junk.i'm doing an insurance repair on an '07 chev van,it has to be done for wednesday-then i'm a free man.
for a little while,anyway.

just caught up from page 26 , must say , startin to look better , cant wait to see it put back together and driveable , dont want to say finished because this stuff is never truly finished

Injection is nice but I would rather be Blown.....

671?

yup.i went to a tool sale at an outfit where the owner had died, that was sitting on the floor so i made an offer on it.figured even if it were no good i could hang it on the wall by the cobra air cleaner cover.
as it turns out,it won't take much to get it operational.

by the way-i had that t shirt in the '70s.

Did it come with the base plate for mounting it on the engine????

nope, just what you see there.if i mount it to the 460 there are intakes available, though i'd probably just make my own.i have to hunt down drive systems for it,and do a bit of studying on boost levels and such as i've never run one of these things before.

i'm thinking i'll try it out on a stock 460 at first as they are pretty tough, but more important, they are cheap and plentiful so if i grenade one it's no big deal...$150 will buy another.

if ya put that blower on the Ranger.....please fab a scoop that looks like Mad Max's " V-8 Interceptor " one....I think it would look awesome peeking over the cab from the front......

nice job on the Celica....like you would do anything less than exceptional anyway.....

can't wait for the updates on your "junk"...no matter what it may be....

i'd thought of doing something like that before and it would look super-cool,but there's one problem with it-when blasting through deep mud or water, there's always a chance of it going over the roof, and if that's where the scoop is it'll be sucked right into the engine.this is why i also won't put a hood scoop on a more conventionally laid out truck that will see hard use.

on the other hand, that is sort of what's going onto the gt.

true, but you could have a mount done up so you can use one of those big foam covers that the mud boggers/draggers use when playing in the sloppy stuff....

still, just think it would look cool:icon_thumby:

anyways, will be waiting patiently for updates...at least more patiently than others on here:D:icon_rofl::icon_rofl:
