Hi folks!

Just got a new-to-me 2005 Ranger FX4-II with all the trimmings. It's a 4WD upgrade from my 2WD Nissan Frontier, which is still a great truck.

I'll be leaving it pretty much the way it is for the winter, but in the spring I'll be needed new tires (present ones are BFG A/T KOs with a LITTLE tread left), towing package, and a rack on the canopy to put my boat. Oh, and I'll probably install a cat-back exhaust as well.

I am a bit disappointed at the power - it's got way more low-end grunt than my 4-cyl Nissan, but when I put the throttle down to go up Nordel Way, it doesn't seem to gear down properly: I accelerated better with the Nissan at 4000 or so compared to the Ranger at maybe 3500. Is that just the way the 5-spd auto is programmed?

Welcome to TRS~!

Not sure about the question but I'm sure someone can relate to it better than me...if you really need an answer it's best to post in a tech forum since many of the surug, er, gurus don't actually look in this thread...
