So, I went down to my local track MIR yesterday, I ran a 16.8 consistent with a 2.2 60ft. now, aside from a knock-off super 40, I have nothing installed on the motor. 100% stock.

Now, I'm hoping throwing a 6a box with a screamin demon coilpack, a hooker aero-chamber muffler, and eliminating the cats (Which before you come in here and condemn me for, is legal in my county) I'm hoping to come down to a 16.5 and a 2.0 60ft.

Other options would be a Jet Chip, Porting my intake, And the BBK 65mm Throttle-Body/Replacement Plat. tip Spark Plugs.

Few questions,
Would port matching my intake really show an improvement on the track? Cause I don't feel like having to go buy another gasket if I can't even get a 10th or so off.
Also, Has there been any shown improvements with a Jet Chip over stock?
Last but not least, Will the 65mm Just bolt up without any unnecessary headaches? :icon_confused:

Appriciate it guys.

im not trying to spoil your dream of a decent fast 4.0 but without nitrous or forced induction your not going to get far.

There was another 4.0 with a set of slicks, 4.10 gears, posi rear end, c4 tranny, and the comp cam 410 and he was running 15.2's there's easily potential with a grand to touch 15 flat with n/a motor, i'm just wondering which way i should go about to lowering my time right now, i'm budget building currently then i'm going to get my valve train done, head work done, and intake/exhaust. right now I just wanna decide what I wanna go to dip a little lower stock, as I raced a 79 foxbody cobra and barely lost by 6/10ths of a second

you will prolly have to port the intake to the 65mm throttle body and you might want to look into a stroker kit. and gasket matching will make a diffrence once you actually get the cam in and you need headers too. the more air you get in the faster it will go just make sure you tune it so you don't run lean and blow crap up. and i've heard bad things about jet chips you need a tune for YOUR truck eveyones crap is diffrent custom to you will make the most difference

Alright, Doesn't sound too bad. I was figuring the housing for the throttle linkage might smack the bigger throttle body or even worse the throttle body wouldnt sit in correctly, Haha, Stroker kit's a little outta my league, I'm going to go ahead and get the headers from hedmen cause my pacesetters were a pain :bawling:. I'm just going to wait on major work though cause the exhaust manifold on this motor, just like my old one, has the bolts rusted into the head, and I'll just put the headers on when I get a new set of heads.
Cool, I'll look around and see if there are any tuning shops in my neck of the woods, As I am definitely gonna mess somthing up if I start messing with my AFR haha.

Yeah i wouldnt bother with the Jet chip. Havent heard much good from it. I'll be ordering one of the screamin demon coil packs tomorrow.

if they sell it as a bigger throttle body for the truck usually they don't make you need a bunch of fabb but line it up before hacking through everything. and you might need a bigger maf cause of the throttle body. I also heard the screamin demon coil packs cracked on a couple people and got water in there making it useless, duno if it is true just somethin i heard

Do you know how they would have cracked?

naw i remember it on a thread some where when he was tracing why his truck died and found it was that. then a couple other people piped up and said it too

get the com cams 422, 65mm tb. 73mm(ithink) MAf. make a true cold air intake/ram air. headers free flowing exhaust. port intake.gasket match heads. get a valve job. depending on milage id possible check the bottom end bearings posstible piston change. tom morana sells flat tops pistons and rods for a good price. (http://www.moranav6racing.com/category.html?CategoryID=32) and to top it off you should go get ur computer tuned. and u should be runnin pretty good. just a guess youll prob be in the 1500 to 2000dollar range give or take
