Ranger question?

First time poster, just purchased 02 XLT, 3.0. Changing over to synthetic fluids. Is it advisable to switch to 0W-20 instead of OEM 5W-20? I'm considering this due to oil change interval. Also, auto trans states 10 quart capacity. Is this correct, or only if the entire system is flushed?

Welcome to the Station Sunranger. The synthetic oil is better for high mileage vehicles, but it works equally good in newer vehicles too. It's just a simple matter of better lubrication and it doesn'y decompose as fast as conventional oil. On the trans, I'm not sure what you have, but my 4R44E states 5 quarts without the torque converter drained, so I put 5 quarts in and have had no problems, but I always use OEM trans fluid and synthetic non-OEM oil.
