i have a 1991 ford ranger 4.0 super cab 4x4 , ok so my ranger, i just bought it used, sometime ago, and i can feal that the clutch is goin cuz its hard to get into 1st gear on a hill, and then today, i was driving it, down the road, and a damn sprk plug shot out the side of it, kinda odd, and i know i could replace it but im gonna let it sit in the yard and turn it into a full on trail rig, but i was wondering if i should buy another older ford ranger, or older toyota tacoma, this new truck will be used for moderate wheeling and everyday transpo use but i know iether way i will have a great truck... sorry guys i aint got another camera yet. what do u guys think :icon_confused:

i was also thinking i should get another ranger, when i work on my friends tacoma it all seems so complicated, but then when it gets on the trail its so worth it, and when i work on my range its all so simple and definately worth it on the trail, any one else wanna give there opinions

Ranger 100%!!!

Idk to me the Tacos seem wayyyy over rated, that and I always read about how bad the Yotas frames and well everything rusts real bad.

But Im pretty biased against Toyota so....

we just scrapped a 98 tacoma, was like new. it was kind of sad seeing a somewhat good truck get scraped. i work at a toyota dealer, and with the frames rusting, they destroy all the 95-98 trucks with the frame rust because of the recall. i think they give you full bluebook+$2000, i think thats what they do, i never asked, just watch them get hauled away.

yeah i think ill go with another ranger, cuz i like showin up my taco buddies, with a ford, when they tell me my truck wont make it, and it does. and the ranger has decent axles under it ne ways, i just dont like the way the wheel wells are so small u have to have extra lift to fit bigger tires on them, but i think i can fab up some other trucks fenders to fit

You gotta be careful with the older taco's because of the rust thing, and they are really now frills trucks...but they will drive forever. In my opinion the ranger is more fun to drive everyday. Just my .02

Why dontcha look around and see whatcha can find? I sold my '88 4wd Toy. PU for $350 to a auto recycler when I bought my Ranger. 'Yoter had rust holes in the bed the size of watermelons, and had'nt ran in about a year cuz the T-case fragged itself. Mostly pissed that I left a pair of vise grips and a road flare under the seat!

lol, thats funny, well i have access to a junk yard, and the guy that owns the junkyard, is building 4x4's and selling them for like 1200 bucks, but he doesnt really have nothing i want, and i dont wanna get nothing real nice cuz everything i own looks like sh*t lol, and if it doesnt then u wait, but i think im gonna buy my moms friends ranger and invest into it, i guess like she bought the ranger, and it ran out of water, on teh highway and over heated, and something happened to the radiotor so i have to buy a new radiator for it if i get it, but they just wanna sell it for like 750 and buy another used beater, lol

honestly do you expect another answer from a ranger forum? i bet you would get the same results from a taco forum.

I had both an Isuzu and a mazda pickup.

Frame went on the isuzu and the motor was a pos on the mazda (along with body rot and a frame that was getting questionable)

I WILL NOT buy another Japaneese vehicle. AND I KNOW that the domestics are'nt all made here. They are still designed better, imo.
