Ranger/mountaineer rims? Best upgrade

Can’t tell if these were just added to rangers and mauntaineers? Bought these wheels and rims from a dude who works from his garage reselling rims and tires in Hemet,CA. I bought Monroe air shocks and now the truck feels great. The original 14 inch rims bounce and jump around hitting any bump. I’ve replace the entire suspension front and rear suspension including control arms but excluding leaf springs because they were still good. I added a corvette Saginaw type 2 power steering pump with the “proquipped” bracket kit. Would recommend getting a good ps pump or else you’ll fiddle too long with a busted pump like I did. Altogether the wheels and suspension feels great now. Still wondering what kinda rims these are

Oh sweet ! Good to know they’re mountaineers haha yea the guy painted them a gloss black and after taking the paint off I saw acid etching all over the aluminum rims. So I sprayed them with auto primer for the time being then I had to get them weighted again and never got around to painting them again.

actual acid etching, or corrosion?
when aluminum oxidizes it forms a white powder and falls off leaving a dull rough surface.

It was etched in. And the aluminum is the type that isn’t smooth, it has little grooves like a record. I got some acid etching off only after chemicals and crazy scrubbing. If I can find someone to get them lookin new again I’d do it haha.

after chemicals to remove the clear coat I blasted with glass beads. that blends the pits and leaves a flat finish.
I'm in the rust belt, we have plenty corroded aluminum wheels in these parts.

it's difficult to get the grooves back, they are machined in as the wheel is spun.
the best I could do was to drag a fine wire brush in the direction of the grooves, then buff.
