my 93 2wd 2.3 ranger acts like its gutless i just want to know withought swapping motor or changing the rearend what it could be internaly or externally like some coil pack or what just help me out

Need alot more info than that, man. Any engine codes? Symptoms and so forth.

A good tune-up always help. A few things that I found help some were changing the spark plugs to Bosch Plats (just the single tip ones). Changing the whole drivetrain oil to full sythentic. Keeping all the filters clean or change them every 15k miles. And once in a while, fill it up with Shell v-power. Did that 2 tanks ago, I swear, when it had it in the gas tank. The 2.3L ran smoother. Even after when its gone, the 2.3L still runs better. Also, use a fuel an injector cleaner product about every oil change to keep the fuel system clean.

If I don't put fuel injecter cleaner in mine every so often it will get to the point where it'll barely run. Also it's not a race truck, Maybe you're used to your eclipse and expecting too much?

ok i dont have any engine codes tune up wouldnt be too bad easy fix for what the problem might be and i wish it had as much balls as my eclipse but i drove my buddys ranger and that thing would shit and get but mines not so i was wondering what it could be.

shift at higher rpm's these things don't wake up until over 3000rpm... when mine was N/A I shifted at 5500 on a regular basis...

I had a 96 2.3 that was gutless as well when I bought it. Tune up and fuel system cleaner fixed the gutless part of the problem. The cathodes (the "hook" on the plugs) were vaporized on all 8 plugs. Tried Bosch plugs, they didn't last long. Later replaced the Bosch plats with Autolite plats, they lasted. Used BG 44K for the fuel system. Try those things, tell us what happened.

I don't think my '94 2.3 isn't gutless at all. She's got gobs or torque down low. It's rare the tengine sees anything about 3,000 revs. Heck, even in 5th gear, mine'll pull like a freight train!

weight could be a factor. If you have a thousand pounds of tools in the back it will slow things down considerably.

I agree with a tune up, but i 100% disagree with using bosch plugs. The truck was designed to run with autolite/motorcraft plugs. I had a set of bosch plugs in my truck and had nothing but problems, truck ran like shit got horrible mileage and was just all around not fun to drive. swapped in some autolite plugs and 99% of my problems dissapeared.

+1 for Autolite/Motorcraft plugs. Whatever you do never put splitfire plugs in it, they are total pieces of Shiite.

i bought some 3$ motorcraft plugs for my truck so hopefully this will cure my problem
