I have a 2006 ford ranger that on turns it feels like something is sliding for a split second, and then I both hear and feel a clunk/bang from what seems underneath the cab (maybe the transmission?). It happens worse on tighter turns and to me it's almost like the transmission is lose and banging around or something, any ideas? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

The truck is an automatic and one going from a dead stop to giving it a decent amount of gas it kind of... shakes and bumps I guess you would call it, although I read that one is probably the slip yoke binding up, but I'm not even sure a 2006 ford ranger would have a slip yoke. Also I drove around in 4wd on the street and it does still bump/clunk on turns.

take a jack and some pry bars under there and start lifting ang wiggeling or you can strap your buddie under there and take it for a beat and see if he can see where it is coming from

you drove in 4wd on pavement? jack up one of the wheels off the ground.

this will release the tension caused by the driveline being bound up.

Yeah I did, I drive in the sand all the time in 4wd. I didn't realize turning is so difficult on pavement lol. I'm going to try jacking it up, will this fix the problem or just something to see what's wrong? Sorry not a very good mechanic.

I did notice that you can feel the clunking/banging on the passenger side much more than the drivers side when you take the turns. It almost feels like it's under the passengers feet. I did notice that until whatever is sliding settles, it won't stop shaking when starting from a dead stop, it only lasts like a second but you can feel it.

For starters, don't drive around town with the 4wd engaged. Unless the streets are covered in snow, ice, sand, loose dirt, or mud.

Check your torsion bars. They could be causing the banging.

Okay, I'll make sure not to do that again. Well I tried to check my torsion bars but I don't really know how to, to be honest. Although I did get under my 07 and compared it to the 06 and it looked pretty identical. Although I doubt that matters lol. Also my 06 was in a front end accident before I bought it so I'm not sure if that matters to mention.
