I just bought a 1985ranger and Im looking to do alot to it. I want to get a explorer for the seats, the 4.0l motor, the dash, grille, springs and just about what ever else i can use from it and i want to know what would be the best year of explorer to buy to get the most out of it?

I live in Albeta Canada and I am looking to spend around 1000$ or less

You can get a 96-98 exploder. If you can cross the line, check an american junkyard for a C4C vehicle.

don't know why feelinfroggy said 96-98 explorer the wiring will require extenxive work as will the dash and other peices, ford made so many changes between 85 and 96 it's more hassle than its worth... i just did my 86 and the 92-4 explorer wash a sinch the wiring harnesses fit in the same laoyout/locations the computer fits in the same place the motor uses the same mounts as the 2.8/2.9 motor and the interior is almost a direct bolt in...I used the motor tranny front axle transfer case seats dash column headliner carpet radiator ac/heater box and wiring...the rear axle could be used if you flip the axle pads and ad shock mounts, i chose to use a 94 ranger 8.8 its a direct bolt in..... i also added 92 ranger door panels to complete the interior... if you have more questions let me know and i'll give you pointers along with pics of my 86 finished.. .:icon_thumby:
