Best post more of what you want down in the V-8 swap section. Just about every combonation has been done. Check out the tech library first for the best info before questions. Swap is worth it!
Dave

ive looked into it in the tech liberary and i am looking in to a 302 with a c4 tranny but were do i find the v8 swap section i just joined on here saturday and am not to sure were to find things at

Not trying to steal ur thread, but i thought this question could also help u a bit maybe. I want to do a 302 swap in my '89 later on as well...

So what vehicles would be best for a doner for a 302 and/or tranny? What years would hook up pretty good?

Do a search on this site, Bro...lot of info.....

Yeah, a search will go a long ways. This isn't something drastically cutting edge, many others have done it. Keep in mind if you haven't done anything like this before there are a lot of other things you have to think about besides just slamming a V8 in there and burning off the tires.

Direct questions questions here for the best results, also a lot of good reading there too. A lot of the guys that really know their V8 swap stuff are not commonly seen outside of that forum.

Esp with an 89, an explorer v8 swap comes to mind.

IMO, I'd put a 4.0 in. Its almost a direct swap for the 2.9. With a few wiring mods its a fairly quick swap, along with a ton of extra pattern.

Just throwin it out there.

Still gotta get a different transmission though, possibly driveshafts depending on what he has and how it compares with a 4.0, will need help with cooling too.

I figured if I gotta change the engine and tranny and all that, I might as well have a little fun with it while I am at it. :icon_bounceblue:

well thanks for all the help guys i really appreciate it And as far as doing anything like this i have never came close to it i just turned 18 and this is my first vehicle i am decent at wrenching but never done a v8 swap. and i thought about the 4.0 but the hp gains aint worth it to me plus all my wireing in my wireing harrnes is shot due to the truck catching on fire. so that is a big part of why i am wanting to do the 302 swap i was going to wait until nxt year to do it but i drove my truck 11 miles b4 she went up in flames =( lucky i wa able to save everything except the hoses and wireing

well.....in that case...do a carbed 302..... you only need a 12v wire to the distributor.....a wire to the new 1-wire alternator...a wire to the temp-sender...a wire to the oil-pressure sender... a big wire to the starter....v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-rooooooommmmmm:yahoo:

It is still pretty simple, but I would (and am going to use) use Duraspark igniton.
