I have a small issue i've been searching online for this but i'm a bit confused,
i have a 1993 ford ranger xlt 3.0 ltr v6 4x4 with a blown engine and i have a 1996 ford ranger splash RWD 4.2 ltr v6, i want to know if the 4.2 ltr is a direct bolt up to the 3.0 ltr transmission. any help is really appreciated.

The correct answer is put a Cummins in it..

But I second on petes post.. No because of the 4 wheel drive

the 3.0L and 4.0L have different bellhousing patterns and are not directly swap-able against the existing bellhousing if auto. manuals (edit M5OD-R1) are "one-piece." Whether it's 4x4 or not really doesn't matter.

rangers didnt come with 4.2l engines so no. try using the search function before posting

Thanks for the info really appreciate well that just mean that i'll have to go out and purchase and engine.
