I recently purchased a 1993 Ranger Flash which I plan to convert to a 5.0 V- engine and carburetor.
I read all the informative information on this site but could not find any information on what to do with all the existing wiring or what must be retained with the conversion.

Do yourself a favor and stay with efi. There is a reason Ford stopped using them in the mid 80s. Grab an Evtm for your year truck and your donor. Take it from someone who has done more V8 swaps this year alone than most will do in their lifetime. I suggest using a 96-97 explorer 5.0 as a donor...

yeah, the federal government held a gun to their head.

I have not started the conversion on my ranger yet,but when I converted my 95 mustang to carb.
I used an in tank low pressure fuel pump from an 88 ranger with a 2.3L.

The only wiring for the fuel pump was to grounded one wire so the fuel pump would operate in start and run.
The other wiring was just to cut off the connectors that I did not need with a carb.
I plan on doing the same with the ranger.(if I ever get done with current projects :icon_confused:) Merry Christmas to ya. :D

Had nothing to do with the fact that a carb is nothing more than a toilet bowl bolted to the top of your engine.

And that they suck.

carb is a win win for them.....engines die sooner you want new car sooner.

you being the third or fourth owner. instead of the now 7th...

since carbs went away i expect 2-250 k out of a half ass maintained engine.

i like injection over carbs any day. only carbs i like have propane regulators feeding them,
