On a long trip recently I had a lot of spare time while driving to ponder about things. One of them had to do with venting of the cab.

When all the windows are closed and the A/C or fresh air vent is on with incoming air from the blowing fan, there must be a way for air to air to exit the cab. Otherwise, there would be a pressure build up in the cab.

Does anyone know where this air vents out of the cab?

Mine has louvers in the lower part of the door jamb, think that's the vent.

Mine are inside of the door as far as I can tell (01 Ranger) You can see it in the bottom right of the door in this pic.

That makes sense. I do recall seeing those louvers before. I took a look and there are also vents in the door panel near those louvers.

I was thinking the venting would be in the cab structure and forgot about the doors. Thanks guys for enlightening me.

I don't know about trucks but farm equipment usually pressurizes the cab slightly to help keep dust out.

You think they put them low like that so when someone farts there is a chance for it to be sucked out before it fills the entire cab?

If that was the goal I'm going to have to say they failed miserably. My kids would agree. So would my wife...:shok:

I do believe there are some in the lower rear of the cab also.

No way! Flatulence has been proven to be good for clearing lung blockages...the ones that make them cough that is...I would hate to think that I was holding back something that could help my fellow humans...or letting it get sucked out into the atmosphere where it would be totally wasted...

Well maybe for the person who originates....

As for the others in the cab....

the cab vents are also needed to keep the windows from poppin out when you shut the door. when i was in high school we painted my buddy's s10. we forgot to unmask the cab vents, and then when the door was shut the back glass departed and landed in the bed.

same thing happened with my '85 nissan, door slammed, bass hit, back glass ended up in a tousand pieces all over the parking lot
