duh....i know the Explorer axle has the larger spline axles. I can't give away all my secrets at once...If you are going to have to weld on the axle to make it fit, go ahead and get the Explorer axle.
The Ranger 8.8 (except for FX4) has the same size axles as the 7.5 so the only strength improvement is in the ring gear. You do also have a few more traction aid options with the 8.8.
Get the Explorer axle and be done with it.
Do it right the first time and you won't be forced to do it right the second time![]()

so i need to move the center of the spring plates out 1" on each side to fit under my Bronco II....Ranger = 38.5" (maybe a tiny bit over)
BII = 40.5"
(center-to-center)
I think the 93+ ranger axles are something like 1/2" wider than B2 axles but don't quote me on that.what about '93+ Rangers? Is the BII wider than that axle?
