Is a 8.8 out of a Ranger a direct bolt in in a Bronco II, or does the spring perches need to be moved inward a bit?

by chance do you know how much?

If you are going to have to weld on the axle to make it fit, go ahead and get the Explorer axle.

The Ranger 8.8 (except for FX4) has the same size axles as the 7.5 so the only strength improvement is in the ring gear. You do also have a few more traction aid options with the 8.8.

Get the Explorer axle and be done with it.

Do it right the first time and you won't be forced to do it right the second time :D

duh....i know the Explorer axle has the larger spline axles. I can't give away all my secrets at once...:scare:

Sorry, didn't mean to offend you.

Some know and some don't. Plus, it may benefit others who are thinking the same thing, so I threw it out there.

I'm just saying, if fabrication is going to be necessary in both cases, why even bother with the weaker axle? :icon_confused:

Ranger = 38.5" (maybe a tiny bit over)

BII = 40.5"

(center-to-center)

so i need to move the center of the spring plates out 1" on each side to fit under my Bronco II....

that is weird....

Is the Ranger axles narrower or wider than a BII's axle?

The BII rear axle is 1.5" wider than a 83-92 Ranger rear axle.

what about '93+ Rangers? Is the BII wider than that axle?

Same WMS to WMS. The Ranger diff is offset, and the spring pads are still a little bit off.
