Ranger 4.0 Headers??

I have a 97 ranger with the 4.0 engine, and was wondering who all makes headers for these trucks? I seen Pacesetter makes them, but am not sure how good they really are. If anybody knows what works good please let me know. Thanks

Pacesetter I think is the one company that still makes them.Hedman and BBK have also made headers for these with the latter two being the better parts although I have never heard anything bad out of the pacesetter brand either.If you are not in a hurry and want BBK or Hedman it might pay to wait for a set to turn up on ebay where you can get them cheaper.That is how I got my set.Otherwise I dont think you would be unhappy with the pacesetter brand.I think they are a little thinner on the steel if I remember right.

JBA's are essentially identical to the Discontinued Borla headers.

Either JBAs or Borlas are "good" I don't know about any of the others from personal experience.

Summit racing has the best price I found on Headman headers. The headers come with all the stuff to install them. only welding to do is the heat exchange or you can use the supplied radiator clamps. If you get them I would suggest running a bolt in and out of the bolt holes several times before you put the headers to the heads... They seem to be the wrong thread but they do work. I also got some antisieze to use on the bolts.. Hope this info helps...

8. Pacesetter.....I've never heard of a set that didn't warp at the flanges and cause leaks in under a year.

last time I used a Pacesetter product, It was of Excellent quality, then again you have to ride there azzez on shipping.....(especially when you don't go directly through them)

I am putting on headers (pacesetters...cough...) and I will tell you what I learned so you don't make the same mistakes I do.
-The stock headers bolts are 3/8 but you'll most likely need to tap on a socket.
-Penetrating oil is your friend.
-Be sure to tap out the threads before putting the new bolts in!
-Be sure to not break off the tap in the head!
-Do not use an air impact to tighten them up before tapping the threads (the bolt will break in the head)
-If your messing around there with exhaust and such now would be a good time to replace your 12 year old oxygen sensors.
Thats all I can think of for now but if I remember anymore I'll post em up

they dont make headers for the 4x4 4.0 sohc do they i cant find none all they are is for the 2wd? or am i not looking hard enough?

I'm picking up a set of hedmans once the suspensions done. No real need for a super fancy header on a truck that will just be used as a truck

You don't need headers on an SOHC 4.0L unless your building some serious power via supercharger/turbo. The manifolds on them flow surprisingly well and when dyno tested headers have proved to be no gain and even lose you power in certian RPM ranges.
