Hi
I have a ranger 1995 4.0 v6, Im swaping a Carb v8 302 5.0 on it. I want to remove the v6 with the ECU (so I can use it for other project). Anyone knows if it will affect the ranger? It only makes run the engine? Or something else?

thank you

It isn't involved in the starting circuit, if that is what you are asking.

It also controls the electric fuel pump and automatic transmission (although it is unlikely you are using the 4.0 trans with the 5.0) if equipped.

Your VSS signal for the speedo is electronic, although it does not go through the PCM.

Yes it's exactly what I'm asking. I'm using a manual transmission. And if I use an other fuel pump I won't have problems at all right? Can I remove the ecu without problems?

Thank you

I wouldn't use the stock pump with a carb, but then I wouldn't use a carb on a vehicle already setup for EFI.

The stock pump is going to make several times the needed pressure. Either get a low-pressure electric pump that mounts outside the tank, or use a mechanical pump. Either way the computer won't be involved with those, so again, no problems with removing it.
