Yes later small block ZF5s had an internal slave. Thats why there are a direct swap for a M5R2. I dont want an NP435. Yes they are stout, but I dont think you get the point of my build....this is more of a go fast truck than crawler. Ive drove all of those trannies, and the ZF5 simply does not lend itself to shifting quickly as the M5 does. Besides, this tranny is only going to stick around a couple years until I build a nasty stroker motor/auto tranny.
 
And the M5 fits under the floorboard much nicer then the ZF as well....

Haha thanks man, yeah I should send Jim a pm or something. I am officially at a stand still until I can get a tranny/tcase....hopeing this weekend. Then its fit/fab/drop cab/start a ton of toooob work.

What were you doing for tranny and tcase? I thought I saw something about an early 90s ZF?

BTW, do you have a post of your Super Duty? I wanted to see the pics, I have an 04. I found it amusing that we both started with Gen 3 4 cylinder 4x4 Rangers (same color) and we both Drive 99-04 Super Dutys the rest of the time.

That's a nice F250 and you do some of the cleanest work I have ever seen. I want to swap the Harley Headlamps on mine. I love the look. I am building a laundry list of maintenance I need to address as soon as the Ranger is back in commission. Big F250 mods are a ways down the road for me... stupid student loans... but I'll get their one day and I will definitely be using your stuff as a reference. Well done on both trucks! :icon_thumby:
 
Why not stick an auto in now? My cusin just swapped out his m5od r2 for a c6 in his 5.0 swapped ranger and he had to redo everything, trans crossmember, driveshafts, and exhaust. I would hate to see somebody else go through the same trouble my cusin did.
