So the house (owned by my GF's grandparents) I just moved into had alot of random stuff around it when I first got here, and they mentioned that theres a mower in the garage I can use. So today I go to mow the yard, found the pushmower in there but then I caught a glimpse of dull yellow hiding in a dark corner of the garage buried under a bunch of stuff. Get it pulled out and found this!

I think this is the oldest riding lawn mower I've ever seen! No readable markings on it at all. Looked it over and besides being dirty its in ok shape, was even able to get it to start after I drained the ancient gas out of it and gave it a fresh fill. Misses a little bit though, but not surprising since it hasnt been started in god knows how long.

Anyone happen to recognize it? Any idea on brand name or model?

Funny you mention new plug. There was one sitting on the seat still in its package, unopened. Talk about luck, haha!

And yeah I'm only 23, so I'm sure theres plenty of things around that are older :icon_twisted:

looks like it says a brand on the steering tower thing to me...

Looks kinda like old Toro design... however, I don't remember a yellow Toro offhand... Don't take this as anything other than a guess tho... unless I end up being right in which case I was totally sure... :yahoo:

my 1st idea was toro also but the yellow makes me question it,

build it up and enter a lawn mower race :icon_thumby:

you'd be my hero if you did lmao

Build it up as a street cart...

I can totally see myself taking that to the local grocery store and cruising the strip with it...

(geared for more speed, of course)

Thats what I thought too but I couldn't make it out. Gonna try to clean it up and see if its readable. If not, oh well. Might try to do something fun with it eventually anyway.

Anyone got pics of the old Toro mowers?

Maybe these guys know:

I can't find any pics of anything like that, my search for old mowers did however turn up a pic of a roomba.

Google "Old toro lawn mowers" and go to page 16.

There is normally a plate like on the back or under the seat with the model serial number I am pretty sure the engine has a model number on the air cowling usually does it have a briggs or tecumseh and depending how old wether it has points. I would change the oil and the plug and see if it still misses before pulling the flywheel and do a search on craigs list and ebay for riding lawnmower maybe you can find one similar I am thinking someone painted it scrape it somewhere and see if you find a different color.

Wasn't wheel horse colors white and yellow? Go find some old farts who tinker on them, they can tell you about it.

It MIGHT be an older Aerins. I remember my dad buying one at a garage sale that had a yellow frame.
