Use some of the dirt man, no rocket science here:icon_idea:

X2. just dump some of the dirt out in front of the curb you'll have a nice little slope to get up it

Only problem with this is if he needs more than one load on side of his house, he will start to compress the dirt, and need to put more down, with the wood you don't have that problem, and its easier to pick up the wood than it is the dirt....Some cities also have an ordinance not allowing mud to be on the city streets or sidewalks (As a previous dump truck driver, I know first hand how much this is a PITA!!)
