Am I misguided on wanting to make my '01 2wd 3.0L Ranger Edge into a rally vehicle?

new to the forum,
hello everyone.

You should do it and post a lot of pics so we can see the results.

It's your truck, do with it what you want. Some of us like to jack 'em up, some like to slam 'em down. Rig it up how you want it and don't worry what other people think. As long as you like it as a rally truck thats all that matters.

And yes please post before, during, and after pics of your conversion if you do decide to do it.

well it will certainly look smart as a rally vehicle, but would it be a contender in some entry level racing? i am worried about the height, and the 2wd. i want to make it more stable w/o a major suspension overhaul.

The old saying goes, How fast do you want to spend? You can get all kinds of aftermarket stuff for rangers. As far as makeing one race ready, I'm pretty sure it can be done. How fast do you want to spend?:D

I think you should do it man. A rally ranger would be sweet as all get out.

I can just see it now. That impreza blue with some O.Z. racing rims and some long rubber mud flaps and a bunch of driving lights. Can anyone else see the picture I have in my head?

Imagine a ranger fitting said description cresting a small incline sideways throwing roosters under the flaps.

A Ranger as a rally vehicle Ive never seen but they are pretty common in small truck races on dirt tracks and paved tracks. The biggest problem would be the weight distribution being light in the rear. A full cage and a fuel cell pushed back with battery mounted out back would help. Leaf springs would be a downfall too when competing against small cars with independent suspension. If your serious post up the class rules and Ill give you a hand findin loopholes. Im a former dirt track racer and was always pretty good at finding the loopholes to make it competitive.

SCREW THE OZ WHEELS!!!

Im thinking Bart beadlocks think like pikes peak hillclimber lol it would be fun as shit 347 stroker dumping straight outta headers 4 link rear suspension with pullbar floater 9 inch coil spring sliders coilovers and to top it off it would be sweet to put a 4 speed in it.......
