Just Bought a 86 ranger and both the driver and passage side has rain water on the fools. Not sure how long this has been going on. It looks like its been going on sometime now. Want to fix the problem before I replace the carpet and prime the floors.

Check the firewall closely...remove the dash if you have to because it will have to come out if there is rust on the firewall or around the windshield.

Also remove the kick panels and check behind there for rust...in most cases though, you will see rust on the bottom of the A-pillar (the one at the windshield).

Yeah, most likely Mark88 is right. Mine does the same thing...I just need to pull the dash and weld in new sheet metal there. Very common on 1st gens.

Mine leaked right below the lower corners of the windshield, where 2 or 3 pieces of metal are seam sealed. I took a dremel tool with a thin grinding bit and drill bit and cleaned the old seam sealer out, cleaned that corner down to bare metal and resealed it and never had another water issue.

Mine leaked like that on the floor and after I ground out the old sealant in the roof gutters and re-sealed them it stopped leaking. You could check there too.
