Hi folks,

I have rain guards on my driver and passenger windows. They're pretty old and the adhesive that was used to hold them in place is deteriorating. The one on the drivers side is slapping around in the wind and making me crazy.

I've searched on this site and I've searched on Google. I can't find what I'm supposed to use as a replacement adhesive for them. I've never installed these, so I don't know what it's using for an adhesive.

Anyone know what is used as the original adhesive?

What can I use to reattach it to the truck?

Any help would be appreciated. :) Thanks in advance!

they probably came with 3M double sided tape, automotive/industrial strength. you can find that easily enough in the auto parts stores. just make sure you get all the old stuff off and clean them good before putting the new tape on. hope this helps.

Yep, 3M makes the stuff. It's not the common foam double-sided tape though (although appears like it in the package), it's like a bonding adhesive or something (I forget the exact name of it). I think it says permanent bond on the package. You shouldn't have much trouble finding it (even places like ACE Hardware probably sell it).

i'd scrape as much of the old stuff off and then use some denatured alcohol to clean it nicely.

Excellent! Thank you guys for all the replies!

I'll look into picking some up soon. The flapping in the wind thing is driving me nuts. :)

Its definitely not the double sided foamy tape stuff. It looks more like weather striping.. that gray stuff that you find to seal the windows in your house.
