Here's what working in the dark, in a windy 20 degrees, on a Ranger with 480,000 miles looks like....
See where the nut busted off the end of the radius arm? Shock stud busted too.
big fun.
Junkyard and $50 later I had a radius arm off a '94. They just removed the entire bracket and radius arm intact, I was a little worried about getting the rear nut off that one too. It looked just as rusted and gunked up as mine did before it busted off. But a generous soaking of PB Blaster for a couple of hours, a torch to heat up the nut, and a decent impact wrench did get the nut off intact.
After 18yrs and 480k miles, those 28mm nuts down at the bottom of the coil were a bitch. I really thought I was going to snap my cheater bar or extensions.... But they did finally give in, and she lives to see another day.
