My 92 2wd Ranger needed the radius arm bushings replaced, trying to get to 500k miles out of her- only 20k left!

Problem was that I could NOT get the large nut off the bushing end, and the whole threaded portion ended up snapping off..... So no I need a new radius arm.

The local yard has the driver side radius arm avalialbe, and I need the passenger side arm. The parts websites don't really differentiate between the driver/passenger side arms.

So my question is, does the Ranger use the same arm for both sides?

I couldn't say 100% but all the arms I've removed looked identical to each other side to side. AFAIK 4x4 won't interchange with 2wd. F-150 are a couple inches longer.
Good hunting,

LMC Truck: 50-5640 $64.95. Says 2required so same part number for each side man:icon_thumby:

great- thanks!

another question, do you know what size nut that is holding the lower coil seat (that big nut you see at the bottom middle of the coil spring)?

I'm gonna get this done yet.... Laying on 22 degree cement in the wind is not fun. I'd love for this to be done tonight if possible.

I know the 4x4 is 1 1/8, not sure if 2wd is the same

You need 1 1/8" deep socket. Other people have said that you can use a wrench through the side of the coil, but I've not done that.

I didnt have luck with the wrench, the bottom coil was in the way and wouldnt allow me to get the wrench on the nut fully, so i heated the hell out of it, used a deep socket and a bunch of extensions and it was pretty easy

really? i used a 1 1/8 wrench. it didnt completely fit down over the nut but it went down far enough get enough grip to unloosen it then it was good to go

with it being so tight with the loctite and all, i wasnt taking any chances rounding off the nut

mine was tight enough to that i had to have the boxed end of another wrench over the wrench i was using (old trick im sure most of you know) and i still didnt round it off lol

If you are using a 1-1/8" socket on a nut, it won't be found in the 1-1/8" nut bin.

i'm aware, i am going to go out on a limb and guess he was asking for the wrench/socket size, not the bolt diameter size, but hey i could be wrong :icon_confused:

Wouldn't that be a metric nut on there?

Or does 1-1/8" socket 'work ok', probably on a 28mm nut?

no its 1 1/8, same as the radius arm nuts, i suggest 6 point tho because of how tight they are, i never trust 12point sockets for that kind of stuff

I got her done!

I just might hit half a million yet....

My butt and legs are still numb from laying on the concrete. 20 degrees here tonight. But she lives to see another day. :)

thanks for the help, and both those nuts at the bottom of the coil ARE 28mm, but 1-1/8" works good enough too. I have both sizes of sockets, the 28mm is a much nicer (and correct) fit. Radius arm nuts are 28mm too.
