I have an 83 ranger witha 2.3 that needs a radiator. All the new ones that I'm able to find on the internet are listed for 95 and up. Does anyone know if a later model radiator will fit. Or does anyone know where I can buy one. Thanks

Thanks

I apprecitae the replys

You can also use a rad out of a 4.0...with a bit of modifications...but I usually just go to the junkyard because there is almost always one in nearlhy-new condition for about 1/4 the price of a new one...

the '85 and older rangers use a different mount than the newer ones that that trick works on...

you have a a 83 right the 83 84 have the same mounts 85 and up bolt in to the rad core support

Ah....OK...there should be a "what works with what" thread or sticky...but that would take a while to create and probably plenty of work to maintain...

Thanks, I was in a hurry, had to leave for work :)

Mark, it's all out there, you just have to have paid attention to all the right things, I knew because I helped someone put an '83 ranger cab on a '85 Bronco II frame a few years ago. I know all sorts of random things about these beasts... and now that I have an explorer too I get to learn some new things

to sum up how to get the explorer radiator to fit in a ranger with the right mounts, the lower hose from a thunderbird turbo coupe works well, but you have to cut one of the ends off to fit and tie up the center with some zipties or something to keep it from flailing around. Use the stock upper hose, go to the hardware store and get a copper pipe 45* fitting and put it in the middle (after cutting the hose in half of course), if I get ambitious enough I'll take the camera out tomorrow, I need to get pics of my swap anyway...

I know that doesn't help the original poster, but LMC should have a radiator for you, they have pretty much anything else... not too bad of prices either on most things
