This would be going into a short course off road race truck '91 ranger 4.0l
The info I'm looking for;
what to use for rad hose?
mounting?
rad used/motor size?
electric fans on temp. sensor or?
close up pics
shroud?
potential problems?
Thanks,
Richard

works fine...some people worry that the water pump won't have the balls to keep the water moving that far-it does.use the biggest rad you feel comfortable with,but the stock 4.0 rad is fine.use regular rubber hoses at the motor and rad ends for isolation and exhaust pipe for the lines between.i like to weld in bend sections(buy exhaust u bends at the auto supply)to keep restriction to a minimum.fan can be thermostatically controlled,but on a race truck i prefer to just have it turn on with the engine and stay on(less to worry about)make sure the rad isnt too close to the back of the cab,you still need good airflow into it.

btw-love short course racing;no drug can give the high you get from the adrenalin rush at the finish line.

I've done it in a couple of my mud trucks. I go the the JY and get the biggest thickest radiator i can find that will fit and start there.

Then I build a bracket for it and figure out where my pipe/hose is gonna need to be and start plumbing. I usually use really small exhaust piping welded together(make sure your welds are up to par or you'll have leaks everywhere). Then use some flexable tubing for the motor/rad.

Simple as that. I've actually seen guys use copper tubing, but i was afraid it would'nt hold up well. All the ends were brazed together, and looked real profesional. Its still sketchy. Oh and I forgot to mention, most guys run the plumbing along the framerail case you were wondering. Hope I helped.

Oops, forgot to mention elec fans. Dont cheap out and get a crappy Low cfm one. Get on at least 1200cfm+ You'll be glad you did:icon_cheers:
