I am not sure what a radiator cap has to do with anything but keeping the fluid in the system. My upper radiator hose being flat... How could a "faulty" radiator cap be to blamed?

Check your overflow tube to the reservor if it is plugged it could cause the hose to collapse also. Pull it off the radiator and blow in it mine on my jeep was plugged in the reservor with some crud in the bottom I had to pull it off and blast it with the hose to remove the crap in it.
