Has anyone put a rack and pinion steering on Ranger the came with a steering gear box? Have any pics? IM thinkng that this would eliminate all kinds of problems

The pivot points of a TIB don't match the pivots of a rack and pinion. It would have HORRIBLE bumpsteer. If you swapped in a Pinto/mustangII front suspension, the rack would work right and the truck would handle like a car!

hmm anybody ever changed there TTB suspension to a pinto suspension or something similar?

Get your welder.

It may be easier to swap in a later model ranger ifs. but even that would be plenty of work.

ok, i talked to a guy one time that had done this and he said that it works fine...why wouldnt it work? or would it just be easier and cheaper to get a tighter ratio box and all new linkage?? i plan on puttin a little bit bigger motor in mine

They sell custom, weld in, Pinto based front suspensions for drag Racing. They are designed to weld into a tube chassis though.
It is only money, If you have enough, You can do whatever you want.

i know that lol but i dont have much and i have bills and other stuff to take care of too lol what would be the worse thing that could happen??

Of interest>>>

I may have to do this on my current 94 Rat Ranger project, as I don't think I'm gonna be able to clear the steerin box with the BBC......

Anybody that has done this PLEASE POST PICS!

THANKS!

anyone got any ideas on a cheap or at least fairly economical swap?
