does anyone make a rack and pinion kit for the twin ibeam rangers or a better ifs conversion set up for that matter?? i have a 93 dd that i would like to do that to and an 89 ranger 289 swap project that i would like to do it to.:3gears:

Not that I am aware of, or ever heard of.

With a rack and pinion, the tie rods are too short and don't pivot on the plane that they need to pivot on to work properly with TTB.

Best to stick with stock linkage.

Why do you need to go to rack and pinion? I suppose it could work with enough fab, but since the geometry will be whack, you will end up with more bumpsteer than what you started with.

I have an 85 long bed. When I put the TC eng in it, it was too fast for the sloppy suspension. Most gen 1's don't even have a sway bar on the front. I live in a state where the roads are real twisty, so I was driving a very quick death trap. I don't like to drop them because it takes away the suspension give and take action. I started by replacing all the bushings with neoprene bushings. Then changed all the ball joints, and tierod ends with good greasable joints. My 85 had all factory joints still. the factory tierod ends are packed with rubber and mine was real worn. I never felt any slop in them either. I ordered a aftermarket sway bar, installed new stock springs, and wheel bearings also. Now she handles like the thunderbird the eng came out of. rack and pinion would be nice, but expensive. You could do what I did for less and I know it works. good luck

sweet i have an 88 that will be dropping a 302 bored .30 over flat top pistons ford racing roller cam .540 lift aluminum high rise intake manifold 650cfm carb and a supercoupe trans with less than 2000 mi on it ive been told the sc trans will bolt up??

I've got a Supercoupe trans here and I'd like to see someone bolt it to a 5.0 engine...

Not happening.

Not even the dowels are in the same locations.

AllenD it has been done, a few guy over on TCCOA.com have swapped a S/C trans in to a 91-93 5.0 T-bird/Cougar. (I don't mean to hijack the thread)
