RaceRangers Build

Kinda sketchy? More like **** that shit sketchy:icon_surprised: Who made your straps they look really good?

lol yeah, I guess wiring the lights while the truck was on the trailer at the gas station on the way to the desert was a bad idea. The harnesses were made by DJ Safety, I am really happy with them.

Thinking about getting all the lights working properly and driving this thing on the streets now and then. It would be nice to drive it more than 4 times a year lol

Brought it home today, going to clean it up and do a ton of little thugs to it. Bedsides look like they clear the tire perfectly, still gotta mount the pass side.

My cab is starting to crack where the tubing runs through and i have been thinking about connecting part of the B-pillar to the cab with dimple died plating like my terrible picture below. Would like to get some opinions on wether or not it would good.

I think it would look bad ass, not sure what to do about the cracking or if it's a good idea though.

My thoughts but no solutions;
If the cab is solid mounted then welding the cage to the body makes more sense since the that will stiffen up the whole truck. From what I've seen on others trucks and cars with cages you will still have problems with sheet metal cracking. This may be because of the way metal changes when welded on; it gets more [?] brittle, leading to cracking? Stress relieving may be an option, but that would involve heating up the metal and I'm not sure how hot it would have to get. you would probably have to remove EVERYTHING that could melt. I would think that welding in that piece you drew would delay cracking though.

To late now, but if keeping the rubber body mounts, I would use the roofing gaskets that are used on metal roofs to seal around tubing protruding thru the roof. It has a flexible 'rubber' gasket that can be cut to the hole diameter that you need and the outer perimeter is made of metal that bends to conform with the profile of the roof. This would allow some movement between the body and cage/frame and still seal out moisture.

well, the tubes connecting the A and B pillars that run under the cab are welded with plating in a few spots and it is obviously welded at the top of the cab where the tubes come in. But after years of abuse I see that isn't enough. I am going to be removing the windsheild and plating the A-pillar soon as well as re-doing my /\ bars in 1-1/2 tubing, and I thought maybe I would do this while I was at it. I will also probably plate around my bodymounts, ataching the frame to the body. Should be plenty solid after that.

i wanna build my ranger up like this so bad. any suggestions on where to start and a price range?

It's not cheap I will tell you that. Do a ton of reading before tearing into it, doing it right the first time will save you money. I learned the hard way on most things with this truck lol.

stripped the rear down and repainted it, no longere looks like a boat anchor.

If everything goes as planned, I will be racing the truck March 24th at the VORRA short course race in prairie city. Went to a race there last sunday and it looks like a blast.
