RABS Question

Hi All...

The ABS on my truck seems like it isn't working. First of all the "Rear Antilock" light on the dash is lit up. Then the rear brakes will lock up if I have to brake too hard, so I'm pretty sure there's a problem there... somewhere.

I've read a number of threads on the ABS system and have a good idea of what I need to look for/diddle with, but I have a question. Does the light on the dash mean, for certain, the RABS is malfunctioning or is there a situation where it can light up without a brake problem?

Thanks for any advice,

Amanda

If the light is on in the dash there is a malfunction and the system has been disabled, therefore no abs. Easiest way to go about it is to find someone/shop with an abs code scanner and have it scanned. It will tell you the problem.

There was a thread on this site recently describing how a guy had your problem and took apart the rabs module, cleaned it, and put it back together and the light went out and the problem was gone. He said it was easy to do. Look up the thread to see if it's something you want to try.
