my 88 ford ranger 2.9 quit runnin today when i was in some water. is there just one thing that makes them quit runnin when they get wet?

Hydrolock is when your combustion chamber(s) fill with water. Since water is noncompressable your engine stops turning and something is almost always broken.

Theirs a few things that could do it. Hopefully you only shorted out the you ignition system... dose it turn over?? hopefully thats youre problem some were ... If you hydrolocked it you prolly bent a few rods....

in my experience the most common problem would be condensation unter the distributor cap.
