Hello, TRS.
I'm posting my build process, Y'all can give tips and pointers, and it will help me remember all I have done. So far I decided to build it as high compression I can with stock parts, Then run a 75+ wet shot. I bought the truck from a friend of a friend, Something caused #1 piston to break. He did'nt have the extra funds to rebuild, And I could use a truck. It is a single cab, short bed 2.5L 5 speed with 110k.
As far as the build goes. It will be the original 2.5L with dual plug head. I rehonded it, polished the mains, cleaned up and polished the oil gallies, and run 96 crank, rods, and flat top pistons. After they come in I'll see how much I can mill the head and block to get some more compression. Due a mild port on the heads and assemble it with the fel-pro gasket kits. Afterwards maybe a intake or modded stock box, Then 2.5" header back exhaust with a flowmaster muffle of course. I figure with this set up I will get to my goal of a 13 sec. daily.
How I got the truck
I wasted no time took about 25min & 2 beers to pull since the head was off already
Then decided to see what went wrong with the truck...
Pulled the pan and thats when it got fun...
Then the oil pump. Now im not expert, But im pretty sure Ford didnt put that whole there.
Then after tinkering. Now im just waiting on the pistons, rods and crank from the 96 ranger I ordered.
