So I just had to get a new set of skyjacker 4" leaves cuz my pro comp add a leaf died inside my explorer spring pack

So now with the added lift in the rear I am curious what to do with the front. I know I want to get rid of my XJ coils for some skyjacker ttb coils, but I dont know what size. Here is how she sits now with 4" skyjacker leaves and belltech shackles in the rear and rancho 3.5" xj coils and .75 rubicon express coil spacers in the front.

I am thinking I will get the 4" TTb skyjackers and just keep the spacer if needed. But I wonder if the RE coil spacer will fit in with the stock BII coil seat. Just curious what you all think. Oh and I roughly measured that the rear from center of hub to fender is 1" higher in the rear than the front.

Any input appreciated (except taking out the shackel cuz that is helping my pinion angle).

Later

throw some scrap metal in back, that will even it out. jk, i think it looks good the way it is. cant tell the 1"

Later
the front opening is higher on the body than the rear.it sounds like its raked an inch or two.the 4inch springs and spacers would be the safe bet or just throw on some 6 inch skyjackers and see where they sag to

I like the way it sits now, but if you have to get new front springs, get yourself a set of 6" front TTB Skyjacker coils.

ok so the 4" skyjackers would be too low... or they would sag too far. Cuz I know that the 6" would make my steering geometry with the superrunner less than perfect because the center plate is only dropped a 1/2" to an inch.

Also this is how I want it to look. (Also the first pic is quite crooked to how it really looks. the ass is a lot higher than the pic shows)

I still say the 6" springs would be your best bet. You are getting 4" of lift out of the rear, so you need 6" in the front to level it out.

ya get the 6'' lift coils, the SJ coils are soft to were i bet it will be right were you want it.

^ I agree, sixers

Unless you got 6" lift brackets to go with them, 6" TTB coils are NOT gonna work well on a light BII.

Jeep coils sagging out? Why not just get some better ones?

Also those new rear springs will settle some.

Shawn. To be honest they are not sagging much at all (at least for what I was expecting). It is just that I am coming to terms that my BII is more of a mall crawler than an actual crawler. Being my primary vehicle I want some coils that feel a bit better on the highway and also are more easily alignable at the alignment shop. And also coils that do not shift in the upper coil bucket (my passanger one always sits crooked).

I figure that skyjacker ttb coils are my best option for that. As long as I get this much flex when off road then I will be happy.

I'm not sure if the coils would affect alignability (that is, if their height is staying put)

The TTB coils certainly would give a bit better handling though, true (do you have dual shocks?)

The sitting crooked thing I solved by welding a tab to the outside of the bucket for the spring to rest up against.

What I meant by alignable is that they will not cycle as much when rolled forward and rolled back. The angles all change just when I push up and down on the hood. I know my k-link set up isnt ideal and neither are the drop brackets (since the 4" skyjacker hole sits below the hub line). But I have a feeling that things may be a little easier with the softride ttbs.

And no I have no only one shock.

But what do you think. Should 4" skyjackers ride a little higher than the xj ranchos and .75" coil spacers? I am looking to get about one full inch higher.

I would expect the 4" SJ TTB coils to sit around 14-14.5" on your BII (they sat at 13.5" on my Ranger IIRC, needed spacers). That would equate to a true lift somewhere around 3.5-4". A few washers can be used to boost it up that last half-inch if needed.

Yeah, if you never dropped your centerlink down on the steering, the toe will still change around enough to affect the handling with the Jeep coils.

I'd probably try dropping the CL down and maybe adding a 2nd shock before bailing out on the coils. While I would never say mine would carve through a canyon road like a Porsche, it does seem to handle every bit as well as a lifted Jeep or anything else on the same size tires (which obviously means it can be tipped if you're not careful). You only having 32" tires should make it that much better, I would think.

Anyway, hope that helps on the SJ coils. :icon_thumby:

Shawn, I know what you are saying about the jeep coils, but I just dont want to deal with it anymore and put money in that direction. Maybe someday I will get the 6" XJs like yours and some full size coil buckets and try it out again, but for now I want a tighter ride.

Anyway,

So right now the ranchos with the spacers I have a length of 14.5" (measuring from the bottom of the spacer to the top of the coil). But my axle pivot bolts are below the hub line (and I am using the 4" hole).

So is it fair to assume that with 6" skyjackers and I will get it level and have the axle pivot bolts about 1" above the center line?
