I have a diesel bellhousing, and a 4d55 I'm trying to put into a 94 Ranger 4x4. The diesel bellhousing used the fm145 style slave, and I'm using a fm146 transmission (because it's roughly the same size as the m50d.. no driveline bs). So the bellhousing wants to take a fm145 slave, but the trans is fm146. Will the fm146 accept the older style slave?

THanks!

Well, since all the slave-related differences in the two transmissions are in the bell, probably.

I've heard that the front plate on the transmissions are different. I don't know where the differences are, if they would effect anything. I will soon find out, I'd just rather sooner than later so I can better organize my time

Well bolt the bell up and see if it fits. If the 145 bell fits the 146 trans, the slave should not be an issue.

you do need to swap the front plates, the 146's plate has a rise were the slave bolts on to it and the 145 doesn't. the front plates will swap right over, then u can use the 145 slave with know probs.
