Managed to source a 4.0 4x4 Ranger from 2003. It has a good motor and transmission. Got it for basically free and assume that the transmission should work on my 2004 and although the engine is different I’m hearing that they are basically the same as well minus some top end differences. It also has a better set of seats and a darker interior than my tan that I would like to swap out. My question is, would there be any major changes necessary if I wanted to swap this better engine in and are there any changes that all needed just to replace the transmission on my current truck with the one in the 2003.
