can i swap it out on a 1st gen ranger for a d35? and if so how much will it cost me?

should be a bolt in swap. just change your front drive shaft. it will only cost you whatever you have in an axle and drive shaft (around here, less than $200) just make sure your gear ratio matches your rear.

sweet dude thanks, will it work well with the tcase?

Well, if you use your stock transfer case (1350) you will have to shorten your front driveshaft 1 inch. If you use a 1354 (they are hard to find with manual shift but I just found one) you can use the D35 driveshaft assuming your transmission is an A4LD or an FM146.

what about where to find one i kno that i can just root around in a junk yard but is there a website that i could find one?

You could try car-part.com

I am not sure if they list small things like driveshafts or not though.

i just put in a d35 in my 88 ranger, and its as easy as 4 bolts. radius arm nuts, pivit arm bolts, it took me not even 2 hrs. easy.

If someone has never done that before, or even if they have and the truck is old and rusty I don't think they will be able to do it in under 2 hours.

I would start on a Friday evening and plan for a whole weekend.
