Quick map reading question

In the middle of the map below, the green and white checker board area, what does the white area designate?

The green is National Forest(public land)
Would the white designate private land?:icon_confused:

National means Federal ( public by fed rules). White can be Federal/state/ private/ offshore. If this involes guns. gold or oil on said land do the homework bro. Bye the way how the hell you been man!?

Looks like private land to me. At least that's what the legend tells me.

Well BLM land is designated with yellow, State land with purple, and Other Federal land with pink. So other then private/ offshore I don't know what it would be.

It does involve guns and that is kind of why I'm asking. My brother and I went shooting yesterday at a spot where we have been shooting at for 15 years and some tree hugger call the cops. First time in 15 years.

The Sheriff's deputy that came out was cool though, just going through the paces, someone reports shooting they have to come out and check. Standing there bullshiting with him he said that he wasn't sure if the spot was national forest or not, but it is a legal place to shoot at as long as we have a good solid backstop. It's not posted as private property/ no trespassing/ no shooting. I had always thought that it was national forest, but it falls in a white spot on that map.

The issue was that in the winter there is a cross country ski/ snow shoe trail that runs adjacent to where we were shooting, but no one was out there all day, until we were packing up then a couple of people showed up. I'm pretty sure they are the ones who called the cops.

I've been better. Our shop closed down at the end of July, so I've been looking for work, keep getting "You're over qualified, we can't pay you enough." But my side work is keeping a roof over my head.
The BII is in a constant state of disrepair. If it's not one thing, it's another. Having electrical issues right now.
Other then that, I haven't killed anyone and I haven't gotten anyone pregnant, and I still have all my fingers and toes, so I can't be doin' too bad.:icon_twisted:

How 'bout yourself?

Heh heh I dont go to funerals and no strange kids have called me daddy lately so yea doing ok too. You should be able to go to city hall and find out about the land through platting or whatever, I know during the Bush years it became legal to carrry a firearm in national parks but not to discharge it if that makes any sence. Kinda like a guy I know here in town, him and his girl were hiking in Denali when they were charged by a huge grizz and he took it out with his .45 (lucky) It was a completly legal DLP except discharging the firearm so he got popped with that and still had to go through the motions (SOP) of salvaging meat (charity) and hide (fish & feathers auction). I would go to the city or state court house or even fish and game and have a chat with them, and get them to print you a map and the legal statutes of shooting there to have in your pocket in the future. Shits only getting worse as the bible thumpers keep swearing that jesus dude is going to pop out from behind a dumpster and save their sheep ass when they get jumped by thugs.
