Ok so I'm in the middle of dropping the 302 into my B2 and I'm looking at these BS "instructions" from advance adapters that give a reference to where the motor mounts should be drilled and bolted. well they wont work where they tell me to drill so should I loosely bolt the mounts to the motor, set it in there, and mark then drill them? or is there a better calculated route? thanks for the help.

didnt use Advance, but thats what i did.
used the short block, bolted up to trans. and marked the bolt location.
drilled holes, one one each side of the mark and slotted it about 2 inches.
worked for me.

see, I dont have my trans yet. will that make a difference?? I will be running a 3" body lift for ease of installation as well.

i think they use the tranny bolted up because it helps you align your motor in. (keeping it straight) im in the middle of pulling my 2.3

yeah, probably but I will make the slots to take care of that so if I'm straight enough from the get-go it should be alright.

well post pics of what you do! im about to do the swap to mine also

I used 1/4 steel plates with stock BII motor mounts.. Worked alot better then having to center it and mark and drill holes.

I'm having issues with the swap mounts too. The mounts that bolt to the engine are one angle and the AA swap mount is a different angle. Needless to say, the studs aren't lining up with the AA mounts.

Is it possible to bend the mounting tabs of the engine mounts so that they sit at a different angle? Thats the only way that I see will work.:icon_confused::icon_confused::icon_confused::icon_confused:

well im going to get some mustang mounts. ive been readin about alot of people having problems with the L&L mounts and the aa ones.

plus i heard that the stang mounts will help you mount it low, which is right up my alley! :)

Gotta be carefull. I just tried this, like, an hour ago and there is not a lot of front and back movement clearance, especially not back towards the cab. I'm about an inch away from the firewall at the valve covers.

You'll definitely want the tranny attached to the block when mocking up the mounts. Mount the tailshaft first, then work on the engine mounts. Be aware that engine placement will affect header selection. If you mount it a little higher, you'll have more clearance for headers. If you mount it lower, better center of gravity.
I have a 2" body lift and mounted the engine low. All kinds of room in the tunnel for an AOD. But, I'm kinda' thinkin' - maybe I shoulda' mounted the engine about an inch higher for header clearance. Then, I might not have had to cut the R-side frame for header clearance as severely as I did. Just be aware - engine mounts affect FEAD and Headers.

:icon_thumby: DITTO.............................If you're gonna do this right, do it with the engine and transmission together.

Agreed! I tried using mustang mounts, but it was too much of a pain. I'm tellin' ya, 1/4 inch plates work very well and at my surprise the motor barely shakes.

If your wanting to use mustang mounts, ill sell you the ones I bought for $60. I paid $100.

wade - what mounts did you use? i bought tri-y headers, so how low can i moutn my motor?

sounds good, thanks to all for the advice... The only concern's I have is the C-6 I just picked up is going to be to big to fit with the body lift I have yet to install. I'm in one of those hurry up and go attitudes and I have a lot of shit to do before I stuff the motor but I want to skip those details and just get the damn thing in there.:icon_surprised:
