First off, hello all, just joined the TRS forum today. I've been reading for a while (YEARS) in planning a swap for my 1997 Ranger. It's up to 230,000 miles so I'm thinking I'm about due for a transplant. Lots of good info here.

I did search the topic, but didn't find the exact info I'm looking for...I'm hoping that although the truck is an automatic, I can swap a T5 in along with the 5.0. A can handle getting it bolted in, but ....

Can the truck's steering column shifter be removed or do I swap the whole column?

Are the 60/40 seats a problem with the shifter location?

I'm guessing to run the Ranger clutch and brake pedal assy, but do you use it's actuating setup or some other (mustang?)

Just need to know if I need to add these parts to my shopping list at the junk yard! Thanks in advance.

My truck is a '97, may provide some answers if you check the link in my signature.

No problem to swap to the T5, as the Mustang harness/wiring/ECU does not care which trans is there.
Just pay attention to the wiring and O2 harness, follow direction for manual OR automatic Mustang parts, just don't mix them. I can help with the wiring specifics if you have questions.

The column is easy to remove, but I'm sure the handle could be removed or cut off to save that job for a later time.

The 60/40 seat may work, depending on seat location and shifter handle.

Definitely use the Ranger pedal bracket. I modified mine as I swapped to an early Ranger clutch master cylinder, but it was very simple to do.

I didn't even notice your link (but had noticed your truck! Nice). I started the read...
What made you go with a hydraulic clutch? I thought Ranger 5 speeds were cable operated???

No, all Ranger manual transmissions use a hydraulic clutch. It's really very simple to do a hydraulic T5.

If that build interests you, there are three parts, as I've done upgrades each year :)

Good info, and Teddy is on point.

Also, welcome to TRS!
