questions on swap 4.6 into a 93 ranger

ok I have the complete engine and automatic trans out of a 2000 Mustang gt with the Computer and what ever else I need from it. If I go with the edelbrock intake and carborate it how does that help simplify this swap? has anyone done that just carborate the 4.6 and put it in a 93 body style ranger. ohh yeah the ranger was the 4 cylinder manual. all help is greatly apreciated
 
here you go. http://281ranger.homestead.com/ More work than I wanted to go threw. But go at it. I would stay away from the Carb. the width and the steering will be more of a prob. than the comp.
 
The 4.6 cannot be carbureted. The 4.6 will be a tight fit in the 93's engine bay and you'll have to do some fiddling with the steering shaft and exhaust stuff. It'll be a great project. Keep us up to date with pics and progress.

Swapping a 4.6 into a '93 will be nothing like the swap I did into my '98. Everything is different, frame, steering, etc. Do a search for "dlibson" over on RPS. He swapped a 4.6 sohc into an '85(?) which would simular to what you are working on.

The 4.6 can be carbed, it's been done many times. The intake manifolds are available, the hardest thing would be the ignition (I haven't checked in a while, but I'm sure there have been advances made in this area).

I put a mustang 4.6 and t-45 in my 93 ranger stock steering fits fine had to make custom headers the shaft runs thru them. I would stick with fuel injection if it were me, biggest deal with the efi was the PATS but any good custom chip will remove that. Custom engine mounts and tranny mounts are a must. I made a custom adapter for lower coolant and oil filter relocate to clear the steering box but now i think you can by one. here is what im talking about.
