I have a white 07' 4.0 4x4 Ranger that I currently have a set of 15x8 steelies on. I'm continuing to have vibration issues and I've pretty much narrowed it down to poor tolerance in the construction of the wheel itself. There is some warping in one or more of them just because of the way they are constructed that is probably the source of my vibration issues.

I really like the look of the wheels I currently have. They're all black with window cutouts. Not gaudy, very simple, but they look great. I think I really just need to bite the bullet and get aluminum wheels. I want something simple. In considering my other options, I really like the look of the 80s-90s wheels that came on the F-150s and Rangers:

All I need is something that's 15x8 and clears. Does anyone have experience with these wheels and can offer some insight? I am wondering about clearance for hub rings on the back face of the wheel (another issue with the steelies) and any other unforeseen issues I might have.

Thanks ya'll.

Stock wheels fit like stock wheels. Ranger had wheels like the ones on the brown truck, so did BII's and Explorers. American Racing Outlaw II wheels are similar.

Black truck wheels were only available on F-150's and are stamped panted steel.

Maroon truck wheels are aftermarket so who knows what there. Those are chrome plated steel.

What hub rings on the back of the wheels? Spacers?

I'm talking about the chamfer on the back face of the wheel. If I need spacers I want to make sure that chamfer is there.
Questions about 1988-1992 wheels

The hub bore on my Ranger is 70.5mm, so I want to figure out the potential hub ring situation or if the hub bore will fit at all. I'm digging around to try to find specs right now.

From what I can tell, it seems like the hub bore for the Rangers has been kept standard up to the 2011 Ranger. Is this accurate? In that case a set of wheels off an old Ranger would be literally perfect. No worries about hub rings and such.

If you can verify that, I'll probably go ahead with the old Ranger wheel option. They are fairly readily available on marketplace and such for a very reasonable price, and I like the way they look, so this seems pretty ideal honestly.

Older Ranger wheels are lug centric, that chamfer is just there to help get the wheel on a little easier than if it was a straight bore.

Older Rangers also had to fit over lockout hubs, I don't know if all newer Ranger wheels will do that.

I don't know if the newer Rangers went to hub centric, a lot of things did in the late 90's.

Trucks with the wheels you are after use conical lug nuts to center the wheel. I have my spare Outlaw II style wheel off, I can try to remember to check tonight.

This is the hub the older wheels are designed around, nothing to locate it at all:

Is the hub not what locates the wheel? It's essentially the same in the newer Rangers, including mine, just without the longer locking hub. Additionally the new Rangers still have conical lugs but are hub centric.

I really can't find any specifications for the diameter of the hub. I'm sure it's somewhere out there, but I'm sifting through a bunch of bullshit AI articles with the odd good resource.
