I just picked up a 94 ranger 4.0 5 speed. The tranny is bad and I'm looking to buy a good used one. I was told by a friend that the tranny from my 89 ranger would work. Is that correct? Thanks, joe

As long as it is an M5OD-R1. The 89 may have the FM146 (which will work), but in my opinion is a boat anchor and that would be a down grade to what you currently have.

ok what type of tranny should i look at getting thatll work and not cause problems. i was told its an a4ld. i have a few 89 rangers and b2s with the 2.9, so this 4.0 is an all new ball game to me but i couldnt beat the 450 price tag.

Does your truck have a 5 speed or an automatic? Cause the A4LD is an automatic.
