hey all. I was thinking of making up some sub boxs for my ranger ex-cab and wanted the box to fit the right in so i was going to fiberglass right to the deck. could you put out some ideas on what kind of prep i should do to make sure it doesnt get everwhere. mostly like what to fiberglass ontop of so i can pull it out with out it sticking.

thanks!! :icon_cheers:

i find it usefull if your going to fiber glass a floor, cause it thin and the weight of the fiber glass will shape it around the floor, once it hardens you can lift it off and it doesnt stick and its cheep.

nice... so you would put the tinfoil down then tap around it to keep it in place?

Wax paper, tinfoil, and lots of tape.

Wax Paper, bad idea. Fiberglass gets hot when it cures. Tinfoil, good idea. Also the tape, Scotch-Blue Painters tape is the only tape you need to consider.

Fiberglass is messy, it will get on everything. So cover everything. I am no expert, I've only built between 10 and 20 fiberglass enclosures. Spend a lot of time prepping the vehicle.

iv only done fiberglass repair and a few little odds and ends. and idk what your trying to go for, but if i was gonna fiberglass my sub box; the way i would do it.

i would prep the truck, to the point of taking out the front seats and covering everything to the door sills. cut out a large mfd backer;for the back wall geting close to the shape of the floor, then do the same for the for the other three side. making them them like two inches high. and let it set up, in a bed of fiberglass. then when you take it out; you have a custom shaped bottom and enuff around the 4 sides, to do the "top"

i would post up a pic of the proto i made up but dont know how... lol :icon_confused::icon_twisted:
