I'm picking up an 87 supercab and a 92 and 93 parts explorers. the supercab has a 2.9/5 speed that i'll be replacing with the 4.0 auto and as well as the dana 35/8.8 axles. Now for the rear driveshaft i can find a newer supercab to bolt in correct and the front driveshaft needs to be shortned correct? I'm new to trucks, most of my experience is all in FWD stuff. Thanks!

yes you are goin to need a 90 newer rear drive line and you are going to have to take a inch off the front. i have an 88 super cab with a 6" susp..lift and i dont think im going to have to shorten the front, so if you lift yours you might not have to shorten the front shaft. im doin the same swop and ill keep you posted on things.

i was going to use rear explorer springs with spring perches relocated and f150 coils for a mild lift. probably still need to shorten???

ya if your goin with a mild lift like what your doin your goin to have to shorten her up a bit. i mite have to do mine to, ill see here in a couple of weeks i guess.

If you're putting in the Explorer's trans & T-case, just use the Explorer's front driveshaft at the same time, it'll all bolt right up.
