question for younger guys about insurance and newer trucks

I used to pay almost 400, but switched company's and now pay 300 no colision. That's for my 06 ranger. My crotchrocket runs me about 400 per month. Again base coverage. I'm 20, and I'm a car sales man so the think I'm using the truck for work

you guys have it so good. i bought a 2011 ford ranger pay 388.34 per month and pay 340 per Month for insurance.. that's was with no accidents claims or tickets. unfortunately my brother got into a collision with my ranger so there is now a claim and my rates will be higher next year.

oh and for you guys with just PLPD its 1100$ here for standard plpd with clean record
also im 20 i remember when i was paying 1400$ a year for plpd on a 1983 Mercedes diesel

When I was in calgary my insurance was 350 a month for full coverage. Now im back on my nova scotia ins again its 160 a month for everything:yahoo::yahoo: ill be 22 in december with no tickets or accidents either.

Wish they took into account the amount of miles I drove in the past year instead of just looking at my record...

Ain't that the truth.

I drive my Ranger less than 2000 miles a year. I last filled it with gas in July and I still have a quarter tank.

:annoyed:

I've been in two accidents, my insurance on my S10 is 160/month with a discount for dual policy (life insurance) but I'm only covered for liability.

When I had my Zx2, I had a "sport" surcharge on it (ha) and since I had a loan out I had full insurance on it. Most I paid was 255/month.

I shudder to think what they would charge me for a newer vehicle, so I keep driving my S10. :D

I pay $27 a month, full coverage on my truck. I'm 27 and married with a clean record.

They say once you get married your cost drops to 1/2 the price.

My mother is in her 50's, has a clean driving record, and the only ticket she ever had was for a tail light. We recently re-insured the Van since we got it back from Ford and it was $120 for a six month term on a second vehicle. It's a 1999 Ford Windstar LX.

So her's is about 20/month as well. I wish mine was that cheap! I make that taking back soda cans. :D

Ive always bought my vehicles in full. I worked my butt off to get my Ranger when I was 16, and my parents initally helped me when I was a teen in school. After that, I paid ~$100/month +/-, and now I average $70/month on my 97' Ranger & '92 5.0 GT 'vert.

She's a girl...get her to work/job, buy something that you dont need payments (but still reliable and "cool" for her), and keep those tickets down.

Nit true about the married. It cost me more cause I had to have my wife on mine who is younger then me. But she had a better record.

You're in a different situation than what I was talking about. You added your wife on to your insurance, instead of becoming married and still having separate policies.

While by her living in same place as me I had to add her.

states are all different too. each state has a DOI (dept of insurance) and a commisioner and they set the rules for each state. where you live has more to do with it than anything.

if you want the cheapest rate available, you can do 2 things. 1)research the cheapest states for insurance and then move there. OR 2)bundle all of your policies with the same company and continue to live in the same state.

it sucks, but you gotta have it. with today's legal system the way it is, you're taking a huge risk without it. you're also taking a huge risk if you dont have enough.

Depends on your agency I suppose. My parents have separate policies, my agency doesn't require them to be on the same.

I pay around 1050 a year for full coverage. DUH I musta missed the word younger. The good ol days.Seems like states usually stick it to the younger drivers. But what can u do.

I'm 20, I ave 2 speeding tickets, an "illegally backing up" and two accidents (parkinglot fender benders) on my record and APPARENTLY 15 points on my licence (not sure how tho, never got ticketed for the accidents), and by some miracle I pay $147 and some change a month for liability lol.

yep....makes sense though. the higher the risk, the higher the chance of the insurance company having to pay for a loss which means you're gonna pay for it
