As the above says....if I switched to a 422 cam and 95TM heads, and I dropped in say some forged flat top pistons, that should bring my compression back to stock correct? I don't feel like paying for prem quite yet, and buy doing FT pistons I believe ( I have been know to be wrong) that would set that engine best for SC or NOS applications.

Also as I am running AUTO TRANS, do I need to get a higher rated torque converter or will stock be fine, if I do need a upgrade would a 1200 stall be fine for the A4DL tans?? And lastly, say I shift kit and upgrade the cooling etc, will the A4DL trans be fine or will I need to fine a upgraded one?

Free bump...

I've also been pondering doing 95tm heads, pistons, and cam to my 93 4.0.

I got the itch for some nitrous, for the occasional big mud holes, and hill climbs...

If you run 95+ pistons and 95+ heads you will be back a stock comp ratio...

The deck height never changed on the 4.0 block.

I would ditch the A4LD regardless, but I would ditch any auto for that matter.lol

95tm and stock dish pistons = 10.6:1 i believe
95tm + sohc flat tops = way above 12:1
93tm + dished ohc = stock 9:1

all ohv pistons are the same. sohc are the flat ones. i would only do flat tops and 93tms or dished and 95tms. dont do both.

Sorry I meant , deep dished, Again tho, about the trans, I shift kitted my A4DL and it runs fairly well. I would like to keep it even tho a 5 speed would help me when long driving, I just forget to shift half the time and that space for the shifter is taken by a custom console.

I have a full length console with three shifters. Anything is possible.lol

Can anyone confirm the compression ratio of 95tm heads on a 93 engine?

I'm pretty sure that is wrong.... Dish create higher compression that flat-tops. Because if I recall, the compression is volume at dead bottom to deadtop. so as the dish has more volume it's a higher compression that a Flatop.....???
so

95tm + sohc flat tops = around 7 or 8:1

Ugh.....

Tighter combustion chamber = higher compression ratio...

95tm heads with 94' and older pistons should be mid 10.xx:1 CR.

mmmm, This is bugging me because in my engineering class we are flat heads lower compression, and dish increase compression.

so 8-1 is lower compression that 12-1.

The compression at the top of the stroke would be tighter.....ohhhhh:shok:......I see what I did wrong...I didn't calculate the cc of the smaller heads into the ratio......fml
