Im swapping a 94 Mustang 5.0/AODE into a 91 Ranger which currently has a 2.3/Auto

Does the Ranger have a compatible VSS or will I have to use the one from the Mustang?

If so, how do I connect the speedo cable? the Mustang doesnt have one, the VSS runs the speedo electronically

Comparing the diagrams of both vehicles, it appears the Ranger has the VSS integrated into the speedo cable, with the same color wires as the Mustang

so Im guessing Ill just connect to it

Yes, if the AODE still uses the VSS, you stock speedometer cable will bolt right in. My '91 Ranger has a VSS with wires, and an actual cable. My '97 has the VSS with no cable. It bolted right into my current '91 T-5 with no issues.

You may want to double check the speedometer gearing, I'm not sure how many teeth the AODE has, you may want to swap you gear on your Ranger Cable. Many charts available on the web.

This one, at bottom,

Shows '90 to '98 automatics had 8 toothe drive gears. Your ranger trans may be similar.
