When i put my truck into 4wd it makes a clicking noise, someone told me the u-joints are bad is this true or is something else wrong?

When you are moving?
Not moving?
Turning (left or right or either)?
Do you have an electronic shift transfercase or a manual one?
Autohubs or manual hubs

Clicking noise
Its a manual shift transfer case but the guy who had it before me put an auto locking hub on the passenger side, driver side is manual. it is making the noise when im moving, does it when im going straight and turning.

Lose the auto hub and put another manual on it and I bet your problem goes away.
